ASEC is serving Catholic Sisters in 10 sub-Saharan African countries, providing access to educational opportunities. There is much to celebrate regarding the work of ASEC and the impact of Sisters who are benefiting from our programs.

Jun 3, 2010: [Tanzania] In May-June 2010 eleven students and three mentors from Chestnut Hill College, Rosemont College and Marywood University traveled to Morogoro, Tanzania to participate in a service opportunity at the Bigwa Sisters Secondary School.
Project Bigwa Secondary School
Mar 15, 2010: [Tanzania] The goal of this project is to raise the classification of Bigwa Secondary School in Morogoro, Tanzania, from the "O" (ordinary) to the "A" (level). This will enable the sister graduates to apply for higher education.
Renewal of Hilton Grant for SLDI Phase II
Jan 14, 2010: [none] Our grant for SLDI Phase II (2010-2013) and will provide technological and/or leadership skills to 400 African Sisters in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia.
ASEC Alumni Association Formed
Jan 4, 2010: [none] To assist the sisters in becoming independent life-long learners and local leaders, an alumni association was formed with the participants from Phase I of the SLDI program
New Dining Room Bigwa
Nov 29, 2009: [Tanzania] Photos of the new Dining Room in the Bigwa Sisters Secondary School in Morogoro, Tanzania.
Addition of Zambia to the SLDI program
Sep 30, 2008: [Zambia] The SLDI program has now expanded to Zambia. Classes are taking place at the Kalunda Study Center in Lusaka, Zambia.
SLDI Session Evaluation: Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya
Sep 21, 2008: [none] This year, our program ran for three target populations - finance, administration, and project directors in five countries. The curriculum was specified and developed for each target population to be taught in two different sessions.
2006 Lab Manager Training
Jul 30, 2006: [none] Five students were invited from each of the ASEC countries to participate in this training program at Marywood University, Scranton, PA.
Opening ASEC's first computer labs and training centers: our 2005 Site Visit
Dec 30, 2005: [Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda] ASEC was initiated in 1998 and had now matured to the point where it was time to get computer labs and training centers opened, facilitating access to the Internet and distance education. This article reflects on our 2005 site visits to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Ghana.
2004 Fall Conference
