Service Learning students make donations for Bigwa fish pond
Apr 28, 2013: [Tanzania] After the Service Learning trip in May 2012, a service learning student donated funds for a second fish pond at Bigwa.
SLDI Graduations 2012
Dec 22, 2012: [none] Phase II of SLDI (2010-2012) served 250 women religious from 176 congregations in seven countries. Of the 250 women religious, 237 successfully completed the course and graduated in colorful, well-attended ceremonies held in each country.
HESA Orientation 2012
Dec 18, 2012: [Kenya] The first class of 18 sisters entering the HESA program participated in an orientation session before they begin their online coursework at Marywood University during the spring semester 2013.

Sep 7, 2012: [Kenya] Mr. Steven M. Hilton, President & CEO of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, led a delegation to Nairobi Kenya to visit with Catholic Sisters participants of the Sisters Leadership Development Initiative (SLDI) program.

Aug 1, 2012: [Kenya] Nairobi, Kenya: Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Marywood University and CUEA launching a partnership that will promote the Higher Education for Sisters in Africa (HESA) program.

Dec 22, 2011: [Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda] By the end of the three-year program 267 Sisters from Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, and Nigeria completed the program and received a certificate of completion at the graduation ceremonies.

Service Learning Student Donates a Cow to the Bigwa School
Sep 9, 2011: [Tanzania] As a result of her life-changing experience visiting the Bigwa Secondary School, one Service Learning student donated $1,000 to purchase a cow so that the students at the Bigwa School could benefit.
Bigwa Science Lab Construction Complete
Mar 15, 2011: [Tanzania] Funding was generously provided by the GHR Foundation out of Minneapolis, MN. A total of $458,222 in funding for the Bigwa Secondary School was was generously provided by the GHR Foundation to build labs for physics, chemistry, and biology and to upgrade science and math curriculum.
