2004 Fall Conference ASEC began with planning and site visiting in 2002 and 2003. Sister Anne Munley, IHM, served as project coordinator. In her interviews with the Sisters in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, priorities emerged with higher education a top priority and secondary education needs in some areas. With two grants from the Conrad N. Hilton Fund for Sisters, goals and strategies were developed. In 2004, ASEC hosted a conference for 18 African sisters in leadership positions to enhance their understanding of technology and to mutually explore avenues for access to education in their countries. This was followed in 2005 by two pilot projects to teach computer skills to potential distance learning students, one in Ghana and one in Kenya. In 2006, five African sisters were trained in computer maintenance and use. A computer lab was set up in each of five countries and a series of technology workshops were begun. ![]() Summer 2006
